In this opportunity I talk about, of excellent presentation of Dr. Pedro Maldonado, about the myths of the brain

First, the brain is a very particular structure, charge of the correct operation of own organism, and so far unknown, but with the advances of medicine has been studied, to discovered the capacities, morphology and real functions of them

The size and form of brain, was thought different compared with others species of animals, because the grade of human intellectual develop, allowed reach the levels of modernization, creation and capacity of thought, but now, we know that there is no difference between animals and humans, both have the same structures and morphology, the difference lies in the size, the number of circumvolutions, not more.

Also, the brain always is compared with a computer, for the capacity of stored or the distribution of information, other myth resolved! Because our brain has a certain plasticity and is able to integrate the events rather than separate them

The human brain not present differences for the gender, the male brain and the female brain have the same capacities, it’s to say, women have a brain less abstract, but with all their skills to use in learning, the differences are most related with hormonal factors, but the brain is equal in both

I think, it’s very important know the functions and characteristics of human brain, understand this complex organ, very difficult to study, and clarify the myths to have a view most extend about what it’s the real role in the organism.

I talk about a very interesting article about vaccines and immunization.

The news talks about the many people are afraid of vaccines, pain, needles, and lately by the diseases they may cause, because immunizations are associated with the development of dangerous diseases such as: the vaccine against hepatitis B, multiple sclerosis occurs, the component Mercury in other vaccines cause autism, the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella) (included in the immunization program in Chile) is related to whooping cough, etc.

But none of this is proven, they are just rumors spread around the world, developed countries like France, UK, USA. through internet.However, it is relevant, because less industrialized countries, mainly from Asia and Africa (the highest rates are in South Africa and India), reject the vaccines even if they have high numbers of people who die or become ill each year.

Our fears of anti-vaccine groups created to excel in the developed world can not directly cause these problems, but "nurture and amplify them," said Dr. Heidi Larson of the vaccine program and policy group Imperial College London

What to do? so far only been designed to educate, inform and raise awareness, but not sufficient, it is necessary to make the change at the country and end the rumors, better known in each

For the other hand, there are places that progress in immunization, such as South America, has a high number of people vaccinated, even a relatively poor continent, including countries such as Bolivia, Peru, every year increase their numbers

Is very sad to be put at risk hundreds of lives by poor dissemination of information, and every day innocent people are dying, victims of the ignorance of those who decry the benefit offered to modern medicine for better health, especially in those need and are at a disadvantage.

Hi everybody in this opportunity I talk about Stress!

The stress is a set of physiological, psychological and behavioral characteristics of our organism to stimuli or situations that we perceive and interpret as a threat or danger to our physical and psychological.

Hundreds of people around the world suffer from this problem, even in Chile the figures are increasing daily, especially in the female population, and also in the young population

In the case of health students, this situation is habitual, but at the same time prejudicial to the health
The principal causes of stress are:
The competition in the work, the work pression, frustration for not meeting expectations, the accelerated pace of life, economic problems, problems in the family
In conclusion, several factors can trigger this condition
But is relative and accord at the people personality and mood

The symptoms of stress are varied, but the most significatives and frequent are: headache, insomnia, irritability, confussion states, incapacity of concentration, among others
The normal is that stress have a short duration (days, weeks) adaptation and solution to problems must end at this
When the stress becomes chronic (does not go away) can have long-term and in various systems, and present diseases such as high blood pressure, ulcer, depression, is to say, a series of diseases become vulnerability at the organism
The best form to fight with the stress, is evite the stressing situations, planification the change in the life , organize priorities, improve communication, discover our limitations, getting enough rest, and most important develop a positive attitude
This last recommendation can make a difference in the daily rutine and alleviate the burden of the day

LEVONORGESTREL

This blog is dedicated at presentation of Dr. Carlos Valenzuela, member of institute of biomedical sciences

In this opportunity he talked about: levonorgestrel in emergency contraception, better known as “the morning after pill”.

The Levonorgestrel is contraceptive pill, with postovulatory effects, using a high concentration of female hormones to stop the process of nidation or implantation, after a sexual relation, without protection, or bad utilization of anticonceptive, to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

The point of view of Dr. Valenzuela, was that levonorgestrel is a contraceptive and not an abortion pill, because not affect the implantation, only have effects in the cycle of migration of embryo in the fallopian tubes.

But there is controversy on this point because some people believe that life begins at implantation, others with the union of genetic material.

However, the doctor says in his presentation, abort is an abstract concept, very difficult to define.

This point was to my, the most interesting to my in the presentation, the controversies, and the differents points of view, of the church and the scientists, and relevance as this pills, and how to get involved in daily living.

In my personal opinion, I believe the levonorgestrel should be utilized in extreme circumstances, for example in violation victims, because I think, in case of family planification not is necessary, because exist others anticonceptive methods.

The used of levonorgestrel, should be reduce until clarify the real action method, and the various parties to reach a common understanding, especially when put in game a future life.

THE BICENTENARY

In this blog, I talk about of Bicentenary, one important date that changed the course of Chile .

To start a little of history:

This year our country meets “two hundred years” of independence, the 18 of September of 1810, when set the first meeting of government-led, for Mateo de Toro y Zambrano. But, here was not signed the act of independence, only established the points to start the process of liberation .

Since the arrival of Pedro de Valdivia, Chile has down the laws of Spanish kings, this country of Europe under his power to the vast majority of countries of America, subjecting the people to their beliefs, lifestyle, habits, besides to exploit the natures recourses especially the golden, utilised to elaborated the jewels of the royalty and make more rich at Spanish crown, considering people like an scoria .

This and other situations, prompting the people to make a change, and expulse at the spanish of the continent.

For the other hand, different countries of South America, forming the Army of the Andes, being its top leaders Bernardo O’Higgins and José de San Martín.

For that, chilli don’t its the unique country of anniversary, also Mexico, Argentine, Venezuela, Colombia, etc.

Nevertheless, Chile became independent 12 of February 1818, and the battles finished to Chile, with the embrace of Maipú, the last combat.

Really, this date should be the Chile birthday, but the history considering the independence from birth of the liberty ideas.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK...

Hi, everybody!!

In this opportunity I talk about my favourite book.
This book I read in 2008, when I was in the last year of high school, this book is “Cien años de soledad” and is probably you also read it, in the school.

His author is a very important writer of South America:Gabriel García Márquez, because he won the nobel prize of literature in 1982 with this book.

cien años de soledad, tells the story of a particular family, destined to live( As the name says) one hundred years of loneliness, until was born the descendent forged of the true love.

The principal characters are: José Arcadio Buendía and his wife, Úrsula, they are relatives (cousins), and married for the agreement of their parents, instead of love, of this union born 3 children’s: José Arcadio Buendía, the major son, Aureliano Buendía, the colonel and Amaranta, the lower.

of them born four generations, destiny to interact, reproduce among themselves, and live a strange life full of relations passion, wealth, poverty, scared, problems of religion, and a series of other things that surround the strange world of the people of "Macondo".

Each member of family have a particular personality for example: the aurelianos are pensive, thoughtful and fight for their ideals, while the jose arcadios are obsessive and revelers, these names are repeat through the time, with this characteristics.

At the moment to read the book, you imagine the situations of characters and you're a spectator, for the other hand , the trama is attractive and funny, don’t is a typical story of love , romance , or war, is an alternative to read something new.
I recommend this book.

BLOGGING EXPERIENCE

Hi!! Everybody again
I m sorry to say bye, but is the last blog for the semester

I have to say that has been a great experience, and very interactive, because always we have classes, which becomes routine and stress, to this date

I think the topics of the blog have a close relation with our profession, and is important to talk of them in this opportunities, because is the opinion of your future partners in relevant health topics´

In the blog learned to write best, use new words, and redact in English, not perfectly, but better that before

I believe that the comments the blogs of my partners, were a one interesting part of the activity, because was necessary read the writes, and we can know, theirs opinion , thoughts, and ideas

I am very happy with the English program, I feel that meets with the competition of the course, because the write all weeks, and make a routine of this idiom , helps us get close most to the real language and know their variants

I hope correct my mistakes to can improve my English, and use the suggestions given for the teacher, with the end of incorporate them into my diary job
